What amenities can be found onboard Norwegian Viva?
(I'm talking about you, Le Bistro.) Entrances to the Oceanwalk outdoor promenade area are plentiful but also hard to find in certain areas. A group of friends and I chose a magic-themed experience that had us trying to find a missing magician. Although the crew member managing the experience said we did everything correctly, an equipment glitch prevented us from actually succeeding, which was a shame but not completely unexpected on a brand-new vessel still working out the kinks. On the jewelry front, Norwegian Viva has an EFFY Jewelry outpost, as well as Bali-inspired jewelry at the John Hardy shop. There’s also the Pandora Jewelry & Lifestyles shop that — in addition to jewelry — also sells clothing and exclusive Norwegian Viva merchandise.
Allocation of space
Deck 17 plays host to an adults-only, extra-fee sundeck called Vibe Beach Club. It includes two infinity hot tubs, a full-service bar, daybeds, and cushy loungers. The same deck houses the sundeck exclusive for guests staying in The Haven, which has its own hot tubs and premium lounge seating.

If you enjoy playing cards or reading in peace, or need a quiet place to relax or check email, Norwegian Viva isn't the ship for you. It has no onboard library, card room or other out-of-the-way space that isn't loud. Unlike on some of the line's other ships, Starbucks is out in the middle of the atrium's hustle and bustle, and late at night, there's music blasting, teenagers screaming and crew members vacuuming the carpet there. On Norwegian Viva, I have a Wi-Fi package that includes streaming for two devices, and the performance has been nothing short of astounding. This is the first time I've sailed on a ship where both devices (my laptop and my mobile phone) stayed connected to the network the entire time. I haven't lost service, and I haven't been involuntarily disconnected. That's particularly notable for a line like Norwegian, which is notorious for its nickel-and-diming. Not only does Indulge Food Hall provide an additional complimentary food option, but some of the food available there comes with a fee at the corresponding stand-alone alternative restaurants (Bayamo, Q) on other ships. These interior rooms are well-designed, include full-size beds, and are arranged around a private common area. In addition to the amenities mentioned above, it offered a sofa across from the vanity, as well as a minifridge. Like many of the vessels that came before it, Norwegian Viva includes studio cabins for one — something the line has worked to improve since its first iteration on Norwegian Epic in 2010. Laugh your heart out at an Improv show, experience a live version of the Press Your Luck gameshow or let the nostalgia take you away while a cover band plays your favorite songs at Syd Norman’s Pour House. Or take a leisurely stroll among the sculptures on the ship’s promenade. Don’t miss the cruise line’s take on the classic game rock, paper, scissors. A small wall-mounted touchscreen pad near the door controls the temperature and allows you to activate "do not disturb" and "make up room" options. Interior staterooms are located on decks five and 9-16 and include two sub-categories.
Two of Norwegian Viva's top shows weren't ready when I sailed on the ship's inaugural sailing. Broadway show "Beetlejuice" was in tech rehearsals at the time, and an onboard rendition of the popular game show "Press Your Luck" also hadn't debuted. If you find yourself meandering on Deck 8's Oceanwalk, you might consider stopping at Soleil Bar, found all the way aft overlooking the wake.
In April 2024, she'll return to Europe for the summer and offer a 19-day transatlantic cruise for guests who really want to experience everything this brand-new ship has to offer. Just outside of the official port complex, behind a chainlink fence, is a rather ramshackle shopping area called the Montego Freeport Shopping Center. It's little more than a collection of beachwear and souvenir shops and empty offices.
